The Vault
A private, invitation-only media service for one household — with a Roku app for watching it on the TV.
The Vault is not a public streaming service. It is a private service with a fixed list of approved accounts. Installing the Roku app does not create an account and does not grant access to any media.
What The Vault is
The Vault is an authenticated client for a private media library. The Roku release build connects only to the authorized Vault service — it cannot be pointed at another server — and every request it makes must carry a valid, approved sign-in. People who are not on the approved list are refused by the service itself, not merely hidden from in the interface.
If you have not been given an account by the household that operates The Vault, there is nothing for the app to show you.
What you can do with an account
Depending on the permissions attached to your account, The Vault offers:
- Browsing — movies, television, and other libraries you have been granted access to.
- Playback — streaming to your Roku device, including audio-track and subtitle selection.
- Requests — asking the service to add a title to the library.
- Request status — following a request from submitted through to available.
- Season selection — for series, choosing all seasons or only the specific seasons you want.
- Quality selection — choosing the download quality profile for a request.
- Storage visibility — seeing how much of your allocated space is in use.
- Library management — where permitted, removing titles you are responsible for.
Permissions are decided by the service
Not every account can do every one of the above. What you are allowed to browse, request, or remove is decided by the service, per account, and re-checked on every action. The app reflects those decisions; it does not make them, and it cannot grant itself more access than the account has been given.
This also means two people using The Vault may legitimately see different things.
Removing media is deliberate
Where an account is permitted to remove a title, The Vault always shows a preview first: what will be removed, how much storage it frees, and whether anyone else in the household is affected. Removal only happens after you confirm it, and it does affect the stored media — it is not a "hide from my view" action.
Getting access
