Terms of Use

These terms cover use of The Vault — the private media service and its Roku application. By using The Vault you agree to them.

Access is by authorization only

The Vault is a private service. Access is granted to specific approved accounts by the household that operates it. Installing the Roku application does not create an account, does not grant access, and does not entitle anyone to media. If you have not been given an account, you have no right of access to the service.

Your account

Keep your sign-in credentials to yourself. Do not share them, and do not let anyone use your account to reach the service in a way that has not been approved. You are responsible for activity carried out with your account.

Access may be suspended, reduced, or revoked at any time and without notice — for example if it is no longer appropriate, if these terms are broken, or simply because the operator has decided to change who may use the service.

Acceptable use

You must use The Vault lawfully, and you must comply with all laws that apply to you. You must not:

• attempt to gain access to accounts, libraries, or data you have not been granted;
• attempt to bypass, escalate, or otherwise defeat the permission checks the service applies;
• abuse, overload, or automate against the service's interfaces;
• attack, probe, or attempt to disrupt the infrastructure the service runs on; or
• interfere with anyone else's use of the service.

Permissions, requests and media management

What you may browse, request, or remove is determined by your account's permissions, which are enforced by the service and re-checked on every action. Submitting a request does not guarantee that a title will be obtained, or obtained in a particular quality or timeframe.

Where your account is permitted to remove media, removal is a real and intentional action: it affects stored media, it may free storage attributed to your account, and it may affect other people in the household who could watch that title. The Vault shows you a preview of these effects and requires you to confirm before anything is removed. Please read that preview.

Availability

The Vault is provided as-is and as-available. There is no guarantee that the service, any particular feature, or any particular title will be available, or will remain available. The service may be changed, interrupted, taken down for maintenance, or discontinued at any time. Content in the library may be added or removed.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for loss or damage arising from use of, or inability to use, the service — including loss of media, requests, or playback history.

Roku's role

Roku provides the device and channel platform. Roku does not operate The Vault, does not control the service or its content, and is not responsible for it or for any support relating to it. Support for The Vault comes from the operator — see the support page.

Open-source software

The Vault's Roku client is a modified derivative of open-source software and includes components licensed under the GNU General Public License and other open-source licenses. Nothing in these terms is intended to limit, override, or take away any right you have under those licenses; for the portions of the client covered by them, those licenses control, including their provisions on source availability and warranty disclaimers. The applicable notices are distributed with the client source.

These terms govern your use of the private Vault service and the media it provides — not your rights in the open-source code itself.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated as the service evolves. The "last updated" date above will change when they are.
